Forcibly deported under Mao and trained as a doctor, Mr Zhu later was chef in the Shanghai Hilton and now lives in Vienna’s 18th Bezirk. Chinese everyday life in the Austrian capital: A life between kitchen and bed without a single day off and no contact to the outside world. A paradigm of non-concurrence. While Shanghai is booming and attracting soldiers of fortune, the Zhus have been trying to live their European dream for ten years. All the while upholding the values of Chinese cuisine.
