Freida has invited all of her best friends to Goa. In the dreamy surroundings of the Indian coastal state, she wants to celebrate her upcoming wedding, to everyone’s great surprise. The wedding guests couldn’t be any more different: Suranjana is a tough business woman and mother, Mad is a successful musician – trying to come to terms with her success – and an environmental activist, and the former top student Pam is now a housewife. Laxmi, Freida’s maid, takes care of them all.

Freida doesn’t tell her friends who she is marrying, but she doesn’t need to convince them to celebrate with her. While everyone tries to guess the groom’s identity, the seven young women philosophize, openly and wildly, about God and the world – about men, sex and their careers, about their little secrets, desires and fears. The more they disclose about themselves, the clearer it becomes that none of them have really attained the things in life that they really wanted. The world should have stood open to them, but in a country where tradition and men determine everthing, their dreams fell by the wayside. Together, they try to figure out a way to change their lives – without realizing that their pact will soon be challenged by very dramatic events.
