Hanna is ambitious and goes to Israel for her own selfish reasons to work in a village for the disabled. She wants to spend a few months doing something “for the Jews”, show some democratic responsibility, and besides which, it’ll be good for her career.

Itay, a group supervisor in the village, unnerves her with his cynical comments about German history, all the while flirting with her big time. Hanna is disgusted by him: what does she have to do with any of that? The Holocaust is history and has been responsibly and duly dealt with during her education.
