As the “Pride of Leipzig” he won his most important fight a long time ago. Today, 30 years later, the world has changed, but Herbert still earns his living with his fists, as a debt collector and bouncer. His evenings he spends in the ring, coaching the young boxing protégé Eddy.

But then he loses control of his fists, his body starts to fail him, and he is diagnosed with a fatal neural disease. Just as his body is falling apart, so is his life. But Herbert tries to pick up the pieces of his past and correct old mistakes: he tries to rebuild the relationship with his daughter, who has turned against him, and get to know his granddaughter. It is his last fight, one which he must win …
