The film portraits two young people who experience the violence of our times. For Violette, the danger is in her own family. She lives in the heart of the French countryside with her parents, who are rich farm owners. Gabriel, a homosexual thirtysomething, is a victim of the economic crisis and works at a supermarket checkout.

As the seasons pass, they both attempt to break free from the stifling randomness of their lives. But they have a long and volatile road ahead of them and resort to radical solutions to escape the daily grind.
