Philip, a hypochondriacal recluse who spends his days singing and daydreaming, falls in love with Maria, an assistant in an animal store. Frank, Maria’s ex lover, becomes jealous and has a word with Philip. Philip is caught up in a whirlwind of events which he at first bears stoically until he finally stands up for himself.
