The film tells the story of a 40-year-old woman, Ninna, who is famous and beloved in the local area of Præstø/Denmark. She has been working at the local diner in the town square for years. She is well known for her colorful clothes and her dark and sarcastic humor – she always speaks her mind with no filter, which often leads to embarrassing and awkward situations. Three weeks before Christmas, she surprises her son, Dennis, on his 18th birthday with a big surprise-party. Quickly, though, Ninna becomes the one who’s surprised when Dennis tells her that he got his own apartment and that he is moving out immediately. Ninna is in shock and her world is shaken – she is under no circumstances ready to imagine a life alone and without Dennis.

In her very own and sometimes quite extreme way, Ninna does everything in her power to get Dennis to change his mind and move back home. At the same time and against her will, she begins to fall in love with her new neighbor Morten, who unites all those qualities which she is sure that the man in her life should NOT have!
