The film is set in the metropolis Mumbai and tells the love story of the ageing movie star Amar (65) and the cook Tara (54). Tara is a widowed mother and runs a small restaurant, Amar is one of her customers. A coincidental phone call between the two soon becomes a daily ritual. After their many telephone conversations and despite all societal conventions, they start seeing each other and get caught up in the criticism of their families and the press. What follows is a poetic journey of the two lonely hearts in Mumbai, a city of 15 million souls.
