Judith is a young nurse, who devotes herself to her patients in the oncology ward of a hospital. Her boyfriend Roland works in a hi-fi equipment store, but his true passion is the opera, a passion that defines his entire life and leaves little room for Judith. Their relationship has lost all substance and there is no room for serious conversation anymore. Until Judith is fired one day on ethical grounds, and suddenly everything changes. After unsuccessfully trying to approach Roland on numerous occasions, Judith keeps her secret to herself. But Roland finds out what happened and starts to follow up on her, secretly. He discovers that the woman he has been living with for years is a totally different person and falls head over heels in love with her all over again.
