Pippo Delbono’s work belongs to the most innovative in contemporary European theatre. His project of bringing “real life” onto the stage began with BARBONI (“bums”). Pippo Delbono remembers his past: “I had become apathetic towards everything. Or, as my mum used to say, I had become a real bum. So I decided to go in search of the bums.” But who are they? Angelo, the intellectual homeless? Armando, the paraplegic walking on crutches? Puma, the singing hyperkinetic? Or rather Gianluca with his Down‘s Syndrome, melancholic young Lucia, or Bobo, the old microcephalic?

“They all seemed happier to me. Maybe precisely because they‘d suffered more. Or at least they made me feel happier. And so I asked them for help.” Retracing Pippo’s search, we get to know them all just before they hit the road. At the end of their journey, they meet up. On stage, they invite us to share the beauty and sadness of their lives.
