Three teens – two boys and a girl – make a pact to drive from East to West, from Halifax nach Prince Rupert, through Canada and upon reaching the coast swear to commit suicide. The film documents their emotions, the people they meet along the road, the way they address – or don’t address – their planned suicides. A majority of the film was improvised, with many scenes being staged without the actors’ prior knowledge. Critical junctures in the narrative were scripted beforehand. Another important point was not to depict suicide as a solution to anything. Visitors to the website were able to mold the story as it was being shot. Additionally, elements of the characters’ backgrounds were only revealed on the ‘net, along with the real life plight of the makers.
