During a business meeting in a busy downtown café, a woman is lost in thought. Suddenly, a seagull flies into the window. The other café patrons notice the incident, but pay no further attention to it. The woman tries to ignore it as well, but can’t shake it off when she notices that the seagull is still alive, but badly injured. She runs outside to try to help the bird but can only help it by putting it out of its misery. Some children observe this and call her a bird killer. She wrings the bird’s neck and the children return to their games. While the woman buries the bird in a nearby flowerbed, her colleagues and the other patrons of the café stare at her.
