The film sheds light on the relationship between man and his fellow creatures, animals. The relationship between man and animal is one of pure ambivalence. Animals are primarily livestock. On the other hand, we develop an affectionate relationship to certain animals and especially love cats, dogs and horses. They are nurtured and cared for and are our best friends. The so-called “livestock”, however, are abused and exploited.

It’s a schizophrenic and we know it. The fact that meat, milk, down feathers or fur originate from an animal with its own character and needs, an animal which is bred and killed for human purposes, is successfully suppressed from our minds. The senseless suffering of animals is endorsed by political decision-makers and is even given priority as an economic profit. George Bernhard Shaw said: “The worst sin toward our fellow creatures is not to hate them, but to be indifferent to them: that’s the essence of inhumanity.”
