In the quiet countryside of southern Brandenburg, a small village is preparing for the youth initiation ceremony. Children become adults, and this should be celebrated. Kai lives with his father on an remote farm. They have invited guests for dinner for the big celebration the next day. The calf is ready for slaughter. But Kai’s father isn’t up to slaughtering or celebrating, he just wants to be left alone. Afraid that all could go wrong, Kai mixes things up in the sleepy village. The afternoon leads him to Lea, a local girl from the village. With her, everything takes on a different pace. The summer could last forever.
