Lilo Pleschinski, 30, is a brilliant police woman, tough, quick, intelligent, and single. She loves her job at the criminal investigation department in Berlin. Having to meet an informant who offers proof for a corruption scandal in the local steel factory, she is sent to Eisenhüttenstadt. At first it seems a routine kind of job.

But suddenly she is confronted by her past. Werner Buckow, now in his late fifties and chief of police in Eisenhüttenstadt, once used to be her teacher and the love of her life. When Lilo sees Werner again, now a widower, forgotten feelings well up. Before she can talk to the informant, he is found dead. The investigations become more and more complicated. Finally Lilo has to realize that Werner is closely involved in the corruption scandal. When the two finally meet up face to face, there is no mercy, and their former love only makes the final reckoning all the more vicious …
