Queer people from all over the world have made Berlin what it is today. Many leave their homes because they want to, others, because they have to. This film accompanies some of them. Berlin’s queer universe reflects the queer movements all over the world and is constantly evolving. In recent decades, the spectrum of identities has expanded. Today, gay and lesbian are just two terms among many.

The documentary accompanies six people of different origins and identities who have chosen Berlin as their city, live their identities here and are also politically active. The current political struggles and discussions in QUEER EXILE BERLIN can be applied to straight and queer communities around the world. The film interweaves the personal stories and ambitions of the queer protagonists with historical events and current issues. The result is a genuine, unvarnished portrait of Berlin as a perpetual place of longing and a challenge for all who end up there. A city in constant change. What does it feel like to live in Berlin? Just see for yourself!
