Anne’s parents are separated and father Mike lives in the former family house. Anne visits him at the weekends and on Sundays her mother comes to pick her up. On this wonderful autumn day, Anne wants to turn the kitchen into an ice cream parlor. Then, when her mother comes, they can all be together and eat ice cream. But for that to happen, the squeaky kitchen door has to be replaced with a beautiful glass-beaded curtain. The run-down house and the separation really afflict Mike, but Anne holds on to her dream.
