In the late 70’s, Ashoke and Ashima travel to New York City after their arranged marriage and settle in a ramshackle cold-water flat to begin their new lives. Fazed at the modern conveniences America has to offer, the adjustment is a difficult one, but the couple are determined to come to terms with themselves, their new surroundings and the new customs without completely forgetting the world they came from. Above all, they take great pride in the opportunities their sacrifices have afforded their children.
