Despite appearances, Zingarina isn’t a Romni, but a rebellious and strong-minded young Gadji. Accompanied by her friend Marie she sets out for Transylvania in search of the man she loves. They had met and fallen in love in France, but one day he left without a word of explanation. She throws herself body and soul into her quest, while Marie desperately tries to hold on to her. She knows Zingarina is capable of doing anything. During a surrealistic pagan festival, she finally meets up with the man she loves, only to be brutally rejected by him. Mad with anguish, she evades Marie who reminds her too much of her past. Alone and desperate she wanders through Romania und gets to know Tchangalo, a loner, a man like herself, without borders, without ties.
