In the tranquil Swabian village Matringen, everyone knows the handyman, lone wolf and drinker Uwe. He doesn’t have any real friends, the villagers don’t quite trust him and nobody takes him seriously anyway. Not even when Uwe claims to have witnessed the murder of the local beauty queen Susi Berger. During a wild Mardi Gras party where the whole village was in attendance Uwe attracted attention only through being drunk once again. That’s why no one believes him when, the next morning, he reports on what he claims to have seen. Only the local policewoman Gabi Stolze seems to have a sympatheic ear for his story, but even her trust in his statement soon begins to crumble. Left alone with his premonition, Uwe takes on the role of a “trash detective” and delves ever deeper into the dark secrets hidden beneath the idyllic surface of the little town of Matringen and suddenly casts an entirely new light on the idyllic Swabian village.
