Veit lives in the Turkish quarter in Berlin. His daily life takes place at a street crossing in “36”. This is where he grew up, this is where he and his brothers and sisters run a dry cleaners. He hates the cleaners, his family doesn’t make life easy for him. He’d love to walk out by the emergency exit and just quit – if it wasn’t for pretty Aliya at the crossing. Veit can’t meet Aliya openly because she’s in Jabbar’s clutches. Jabbar works in the betting office opposite the dry cleaners and wants to marry Aliya once he owns the betting office. But Veit is determined to have Aliya to himself …
