On the spur of the moment, Daniel quits college to take off on a trip around the world. Come what may, this will be the most exciting time of his life. But already on his first stop in the Indonesian megacity Jakarta the foreign culture completely overwhelms him. Not only does he lose his luggage, he is also robbed. Furthermore, he is deeply disappointed that his brother does not join him. Daniel is close to despair.
Aimlessly, he wanders through Jakarta and ends up in a club where he drinks himself into oblivion. That’s where Clara, another lone traveler, steps in and takes him to the hospital. Contrary to Daniel, she thoroughly enjoys her freedom and independence. When Clara decides to travel to Bali, Daniel doesn’t hesitate for a second. He follows her and hopes to escape his tormenting loneliness. But gradually it becomes obvious just how different they are, and increasingly more discrepancies arise between them.
