The film focuses on six individuals – all sinners of varying degrees – who speak very personally with Jesus. A woman prays for her Muslim husband, who has been partly debilitated by a stroke and has grown resentful of his wife’s religious practice; a man professes his great desire for earthly love and despairs that it has eluded him; dejected by his inability to appreciate the gentler aspects of his personality, a student fantasizes about being a gun-slinging hero of the Wild West; a couple wrestles with their ambivalent feelings for one another; and a retired teacher discusses in cloak-and-dagger terms how she might take revenge on her unfaithful husband.
