A glacier is dying. Like the Basodino glacier, many other glaciers have lost a third of their size in just 70 years. One world is wiped away while another, drop by drop, is created. These drops have been carving out the world which surrounds us since time began. They created the Alps and all the mountain ranges on the planet. They gave us waterfalls and caves. They are the springs of life which provide our most essential resource: water. But they are also a source of death and destruction. Their power causes avalanches of uncontrollable force. The photographer Ely Riva spent years documenting man’s relationship with nature, and set off on a solitary journey to discover this new world.
