In 1991, still in the apartheid era, the troupe Dance for All was founded in the townships of Cape Town. Now, around five hundred children are being taught there. The most talented receive professional ballet training. The dancers’ incentive for persevering through their arduous course of training is their dream of independence and the big, wide world. Each day, their ability to carry on is put to the test as they are torn between everyday family life, social problems and the glamorous life on stage. The film accompanies three of the young people on their way to becoming professional dancers.
