Rose is in her early forties and a single mother of three – more or less – grown-up sons: Bernd (23) works in a copy shop and in the evenings helps out in a bar to earn his share in the family finances, Axi (21) is a bank trainee, and Stan, the youngest, will soon turn 18 and rather than taking his A-levels would prefer to become a DJ.

In the early 80’s, Rose lived it up in squats, but her way of life changed quite abruptly ten years ago when she split up from Jürgen, her sons’ father. She hasn’t been in touch with him ever since and now lives with her three sons in her grandfather’s house, making a living writing dime novels. And then there’s her new lover, Gerhard …
